The workshop was one of the major activities under the ICSU/WMO demonstration project 'Tropical Cyclone Disasters' of the IDNDR in close co-ordination with ICSU (see K/182-K/463). Additionally Lighthill was asked to organise the special Symposium 'Global Climate Change and Tropical Cyclones' to which the whole of Monday 22 November and part of Friday 26 November was devoted. Lighthill chaired and prepared the report of the symposium which was submitted to the American Meteorological Society for publication. Much of the material relates to the preparation and publication of the report. |
