| Description | LILLY/C/350-360 are the contents of one of Malcolm Lilly's files, labelled 'SERC', regarding Science and Engineering Research Council grants. The contents have been divided into 11 parts for ease of reference, and include drafts and transparencies for presentations. The papers are presented in the order found.
In January 1986 the SERC Biotechnology Directorate invited proposals from universities for the development of major disciplinary research programmes in biochemical engineering. UCL was shortlisted in May and in September was invited to become a Biochemical Engineering Centre and begin the process of turning UCL's proposal into a formal grant application.
