Description | As a child Mary attended a very small Friends boarding school in Buckinghamshire, run by one of the Quaker Fry sisters, for a term in 1921. After that, her parents opted to send her to Bedales School, which was based in Hampshire. J.H. Badley was the Headmaster. His wife had been an active Socialist and Badley was known as the 'Chief'.
Mary seems to have enjoyed her time at Bedales as she made lots of lasting friendships and stayed on to become Head Girl.
This Series consists of documentation from Mary's time at Manortorne and Beadales, as well as her certificates. |
