DescriptionComprehensive schools were very much on the horizon after the second world war, yet the system was still very much organised along Grammar, Technical and Secondary Modern Schools. Woodlands was the first Ministry of Education comprehensive school. This school catered for up to 2000 boys organised as 'suburbs' within the school around the main centre, where the specialised teaching took place.
