Acquisition | Several items were part of the Arthur Strong Oriental Library collection, see the descriptions of each item for details. Sandford Arthur Strong (1863-1904, orientalist, art historian and librarian) was Professor of Arabic at UCL from 1895 until his sudden death in 1904. His widow presented some of his books to the library in 1905.
Other items were formerly part of the collection of John Thomas Graves (1806-1870), mathematician and Professor of Jurisprudence at University College London, whose collection included manuscripts dating from the 15th to the 19th century, relating mainly to mathematics. |
