Parties: 1) Richard Hillersdon esq. of Memland, Devon 2) William Symon, gent., of Lyon's Inn, Middlesex 3) Walter Avent of Modbury, Devon, yeoman Property: Manor of Lamside or Lamshead [Lambside], Devon with all rights and appurtenances, the capital messuage Barton Farm and demesne lands called Memland [Membland] alias Memkingland with appurtenances in the parish of Holbeton in the county of Devon, and the greist [grist] mills and millhouse known as Poolemills in the said parish of Holbeton, and various messuages , rights, rents and other properties (listed in full) in the areas of Lamside, Salcombe, Grimpston Sleigh [Grimpstonleigh], Dunston, Snape, Bowcliffe, Crutchwell, Torhill, Knowle, Knowle Batson, Rudge Parkes, Bowdon, Carswell, Grimpston Nasser Major [Noss Mayo?], Totnes, Holbeton, Yealmpton, Whitechurch, Maulborough, Kingsbridge, Dodbrook, Moreleigh, Blackawton, South Huish and Honychurch, also the adowson of the Church of Honychurch , all in the county of Devon. Transaction: It has been agreed that 1) would levy a fine and common recovery with double voucher to 2) for the property specified and 1) has done so in the term of St Michael last past at the Court of Common Pleas. By this covenant the parties declare that their intent was, is and shall be that Walter Avent and his heirs etc shall be seized of the property forever, for the only use and behoof of Richard Hillerdon and his heirs forever.
