Main body text in black in a Gothic bookhand was originally in two columns, part of the other column is just visible at the edge of the fragment. With red highlights, rubrics and a large blue initial 'I' on the verso. Parts of small red and blue capitals are visible in the second column on the verso. The text is for the proper of the mass for Saturday in the 3rd week of Lent. Begins on the recto with the epistle, which is from Daniel 13. This continues overleaf and is followed by the gradual, Psalm 22:2 "Si ambulavero in medeo umbre non timelo mala". The remainder of the text on the verso is the gospel, taken from John 8:1. Part of a large inscription is visible at the top of the recto with the date 1599, although the second 9 has rubbed away. |
