Title | Medical Treatises (14th century) |
Date | Late 14th century |
Description | Manuscript volume, probably late 14th century, containing a collection of medical treatises by various authors, including prescriptions and treatises on medicinal herbs. With many later notes and corrections indicating it was heavily used over a long period of time. Much of text appears to be copies of works by the C13th-C14th physician Bernard de Gordon and includes his celebrated "Lilium medicinae" (Lily of Medicine). Some works in French and English.
The binding is in extremely poor condition and lacks the spine cover. Imprints of text on the uncovered spine indicate that manuscript fragments may have been incorporated in the binding. |
