Description | Papers regarding a 'Delinquency Project', carried out as a sub-study of the National Survey of Health and Development (NSHD). These papers are mainly concerned with the difficulties of obtaining data on court appearances of NSHD study members. This data would become much more difficult to obtain once the NSHD study members reached the age of 17, as such data could then no longer be collected from Childrens Officers.
This file includes:
- a timetable of past developments in the project regarding tracing NSHD study members’ court appearances; - correspondence with data processing organisations, giving them processing instructions; - a costing of the processing analysis, as quoted by various processing centres; - correspondence with the Home Office regarding testing for NSHD children attending ‘Home Office Approved Schools’, including gathering data on their social and criminal history; - a circular sent out to Chief Constables, in order to gather data about offences committed by NSHD study members; - notes from a meeting between members of the NSHD research team, and officers from the Home Office; - Official Secrets Act declarations, required for obtaining these data from the Home Office. |
