Description	An unbound document entitled 'Final Progress Report 1974-1979 of the MRC Unit for the Study of Environmental Factors in Mental and Physical Illness’. This MRC unit had been set up in 1962 to continue the work of the National Survey of Health and Development (NSHD). This report therefore focusses mainly on the recent activities of the NSHD, but also covers the Unit’s other work on child behaviour studies. This report was described as the ‘final’ progress report because the director James Douglas was retiring and the Unit was being disbanded. However, the NSHD was going to continue after Douglas’ retirement.
