Description	The contents of a file labelled 'Circular Letters', used during the first 15 years of the National Survey of Health and Development (NSHD), going back to the original maternity survey in 1946. These letters include: - instructions to local authorities for administering the earlier surveys; - letters requesting help from local authorities in tracing study members; - letters to schools and educational bodies requesting their help with NSHD testing, and recording child sickness absences; - thankyou letters to schools and educational bodies; - letters to mothers who have withdrawn their children from the survey; - letters to doctors requesting their help with the survey; - letters regarding the 1957 clinical examination and home visit; - blanks forms relating to survey children admitted to hospital; - school transfer cards.
