Description | Correspondence regarding study members of the MRC National Survey of Health and Development (NSHD) who are affected by learning disabilities, mental health problems, and neurological disorders. These include nervous breakdowns, Down’s syndrome, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, hemiplegia, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy. The correspondence is often conducted directly with study members, but sometimes happens through their parents, their NSHD interviewer/nurse, their school, or a hospital. It includes medical records.
The subject matter includes study members asking the NSHD for advice, help, or information about their childhood records in order to help understand their mental health conditions. The content of some of these letters includes references to self-harm, and suicidal thoughts. |
