Description | This collection contains papers relating to the White Lion Free School which opened in 1972 in Islington, North London and remained open until 1990. The White Lion Free School was based on some of the princoples of A.S.Neill's Summerhill and children could decide themselves what to learn and would have an equal say in the running of the school. It contains school publicity material, school bulletins, minutes of meetings, timetables, and correspondence about the running of the school. It also includes some material produced by, and about, other Free Schools.
Nigel Wright was a teacher from 1968 until 1983 and worked at the While Lion Free School for four years from 1979 - 1983. He is the author of three books - listed below: Wright, N. (1977).
