DescriptionPhotocopies of George Orwell's internal correspondence from his time working at the BBC, mainly under his original name Eric Arthur Blair. In these papers his job title is given as "Talks Producer, Indian Section", at the BBC's Eastern Service. These papers are mostly typescript, with some handwritten letters. These papers include:

- discussions over Orwell's political position whilst working for the BBC;
- discussions over whether he should use his pen name (Orwell) while reading the news in India;
- an internal BBC memo giving guidance on how employees should cover the Congress Party;
- notes from a BBC meeting on broadcasting in wartime;
- a memo from the Ministry of Information.
