These papers relate to discussions around a proposed new organisation to be called 'League for the Dignity and Rights of Man', 'League for the Preservation of the Freedom and Dignity of Man', or ‘British League for European Freedom’. They consist of news cuttings, handwritten notes, pamphlets for human rights organisations, draft articles, memos, a draft petition, and correspondence (both handwritten and typescript). The correspondents include Arthur Koestler, Bertrand Russell and Victor Gollancz, and this includes several letters from Koestler to George Orwell.
