| Title | Letter from Orwell to Gollancz |
| Date | 20 Aug 1937 |
| Description | Typed letter from Orwell to Gollancz, referring to a newspaper article from the 'Daily Worker' that he has enclosed (not present). Orwell takes issue with the claim in the article that he wrote that the working classes smell in 'The Road to Wigan Pier'. He asks Gollancz to use his influence to stop the references, and claims this is a misquote. Orwell also claims that this is an organised libel organised by communists due to the fact Orwell has serviced with the anti-Stalinist POUM in Spain. |
