Description | <p>Letters to Pearson regarding the possibility of Pearson's election to the College Council; seeking recommendation for a travelling tutor; the publication of Maria Trench's book on miracle plays; the possibility of publishing Pearson's German works; possible republication of Mary Wollstonecraft's <i>A Vindication of the Rights of Women</i>; Pearson's pamphlet on prostitution; the account for <i>The New Werther</i>; and enclosing a memorandum of agreement for Pearson's work in the International Scientific Series.</p> <br></br> <p>Several letters concern Pearson editing William Kingdon Clifford's unpublished manuscript [published as <i>The Common Sense of the Exact Sciences</i>, (London: Kegan Paul, 1885)], with enclosed letter from R C Rowe regarding his work on the manuscript. The letters discuss the publication of Clifford's work; financial arrangements for Lucy Clifford and the family of R C Rowe; Pearson's preface to the volume; and enclosing a letter from Dairoku Kikuchi offering to translate the work into Japanese.</p> |
