Description<p>Three letters from Lane to Pearson seeking assistance with developing a method for establishing the relative accuracy of a series of prediction tables, which show the predicted rate of parole violation for inmates released from a penal institution, compared with the actual outcome. The letters go on to discuss the attempts by American penologists to apply statistical methods to parole data. Enclosed with the letters are Lane's notes and tables. </p>
<p>Accompanying the letters are Karl Pearson's draft letters to Egon Pearson discussing the matter, and Egon's notes.</p>
