About scheme for a Modern Languages Tripos at Cambridge in 1886, enclosing a copy of proposed scheme and asking advice on selected subjects, particularly in Middle and Old High German and Old French; invitation to K Pearson to join the Board of Medieval and Modern Languages; about signing off the revised Tripos scheme; further points about syllabus; asking Pearson to supply a short statement of his work to the General Board; and asks if he will consent to act as examiner in German in first Tripos in 1886 (Pearson consented).
