DescriptionPostcard from Bonney regarding the motion of glaciers; and letters regarding geology and the debate over the age of the earth.

Also one letter from Augustus De Morgan to an unidentified correspondent (possibly Bonney?) dated 15 November 1866, relating to his conflict with the Council of University College over the appointment of George Croom Robertson to the Chair of Mental Philosophy and Logic. He describes the argument in algebraic terms. Adhered to the last page of the letter is a note from Bonney to Karl Pearson dated 12 February 1895, originally enclosing the De Morgan letter for Pearson's amusement.

AcquisitionThe De Morgan letter was found with framed pictures from the Galton Laboratory in the basement of the Department of Statistics by Maxine Merrington in 1986. The letter itself was framed and presumably had been displayed on the wall in the Galton Lab.
