AdminHistory | 'TLRP successfully launched its new Phase of the Programme at Westminster in London on June 25. The event titled ‘Teaching and Learning – could we do better?’ took place at the mid-point of ESRC’s Social Science Week with cross-party support from British Parliament as reflected by the contributions from various members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. Contributors and participants included Barry Sheerman MP, Chair of the House of Commons Education and Skills Committee; Tim Boswell MP, Shadow Minister of Education and Skills; Baroness Margaret Sharp, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson on Education in the House of Lords; Professor Ian Diamond, ESRC Chief Executive; Paul Johnson, Chief Economist and Director of Analytical Services (DfES); and Professor David Watson, Vice-Chancellor University of Brighton and Chair of the TLRP Steering Committee. The event also provided an opportunity for the participants to meet with representatives of 18 TLRP-research teams to discuss how their research could contribute to future developments in policy and practice'.
