AdminHistory'ESRC Teaching and Learning Research Programme (TLRP) held its first network seminar on 02 June 2000 which focused on the Phase-I themes of the Programme as well as discussing the overall objectives of the ESRC/TLRP. A key focus of the seminar was to explore how project researchers, and stakeholders, could support each other in enabling the achievement of the broad Programme Objectives of the TLRP. The participants agreed it is expected that each project may not contribute fully to every Programme Objective. However, it is expected that the Objectives could only be reached through collective and responsible cooperation, and a diligent approach, of all project teams.
Contributing to the Seminar, TLRP Director, Professor Charles Desforges, commented:
‘It is essential that we all start from the recognition that the Teaching and Learning Research Programme is a PROGRAMME, not a series of unconnected projects. It is just as vital that all recognise that audiences are not just researchers and the narrow group of users and learners involved in the research: the purpose of the Programme is to reach a much wider and deeper range of stakeholders.’
He further stated:
‘We need to address what happens after the Programme finishes: will the research be sustainable, portable, generalisable?’
The Seminar also discussed ‘user engagement’, ‘communication’ and ensuring ‘Programme Impact’'.
