DescriptionReplies from Directors of Institutes of Education to a questionnaire circulated by Professor Ben Morris, Director of the University of Bristol, Institute of Education to gauge what actions had been taken since the publication of the Weaver Report relating to the reform of college governance. The questionnaires were completed by the constituent colleges of the Area Training Organisations (ATOs) and sent onto the CID. The questionnaire asked whether:
- any move had been taken to change the representation on governing bodies of colleges in accordance with the recommendation of the report
- had academic boards been set up at colleges
- any Local Education Authorities (LEAs) had begun to treat college governing bodies in different ways from other sub-committees of the Education Committee
- the Director was still secretary of the governing body
- LEAs had taken any other steps to reform college government
