Continuing Professional Development Committee which dealt with all matters concerning inservice courses for teachers (both award bearing and non-award bearing)

Research and Development Committee which dealt with all matters of research and development in the field of education but with specific reference to research on teacher education, and liaision with other bodies concerned with research in education including funding bodies
International Co-ordinating Committee which provided expert guidance on working with international organisations such as the British Council, the European Commission, recruitment of overseas students and inter-university co-operation. It co-ordinated its work with the other standing committees
Management Forum which considered all other issues that were not likely to appear on the agendas of the other standing committees.
