| AdminHistory | The Overseas-Sub-Committee (Standing Committee F) was formed at a meeting held on 22nd February 1974, chaired by Professor Hilliard and attended by representatives of Keele, Manchester, London, Exeter, Birmingham, Bristol, Newcastle and Reading universities. It was agreed that, as overseas students often participated in courses largely established for British students it was appropriate that overseas interests be managed by a specific sub-committee of the Executive Committee. The sub-committee was to be concerned with:
- mainitaining working links between universities involved in overeseas education
- establishing wsound working relationships with ODM, the British Council and other external bodies;
- developing contacts with overseas organisations and institutions with a view to developing collaborative work.
In 1993 the UCET and PCET (Polytechnics Council for the Education of Teachers) merged to become a large UCET. At this point the committee structure was changed to reflect the new organisations. The work of Standing Committee F was taken over by the International Co-ordinating Committee. These records are catalogued at UCE/C/15. |
