AdminHistoryLord Thomas McNally (b.20/02/1943) is a British politician and former leader of the Liberal Democrats. He studied Economics at UCL (1965-66) and was President of the Debating Society and later President of the Student Union. He became a fellow of UCL in 2010.

In 1966 he was elected Vice President of the NUS and was appointed Assistant General Secretary of the Fabian Society. Then in 1967 he joined the full-time staff of the Labour Party. He was appointed Head of the Political Office in 10 Downing Street in 1976. In 2004 he was elected as the Liberal Democrat Leader of the House of Laws and was Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Constitutional Affairs between 2006-2010. He was also Deputy Leader of the House of Lords from 2010-2013.
