Description | Correspondence between Ethel Froud (NUWT General Secretary), the Legal and Tenure committee of the NUWT, NUWT members and Local Councils and Education Authorities regarding legal cases which the Committee is involved in. The correspondence covers: Letters of thanks from individual members and branches for help received from the Committee Equal pay resolutions submitted by the NUWT to various Education Committees Actions taken by Solicitors on behalf of the Committee including cases of libel against teachers Imposition of residential rules by Local Education Authorities and cases of teacher's fighting this rule with help from the Committee Details of outstanding cases which the Committee are dealing with, 1924 Cases of headships being advertised as exclusively for male teachers Concern over amalgamations and the impact on infant and junior schools Married women teachers and cases of councils exerting pressure on them to resign Cases of unfair dismissal of of teachers leaving posts due to harassment or false accusations Cases of disputes between teachers and education committees Deportation of two Irish teachers, Maria Rosina Killen and Sarah McDermott to Ireland and the Legal and Tenure Committee fight to get them reinstated in their jobs, 1923 (the deportations were part of the arrests of members of the Irish Self-Determination League of Great Britain). This includes notes of their tribunal cases. |
