Description | An assortment of documents, publications and articles collected together as 'Special' in that they relate to the business and interests of the NUWT. These include: 'Time and Tide', 24/09/1920 - contains 'Personalities and Powers - Miss Agnes Dawson' Rules of a number of NUWT branches Voting papers for NUWT Central Council elections Leaflets produced by the Women Teacher's Franchise Union including a transcript of an address given by Kate Dice, 1913 - 1915 Tenancy agreement for the NUWT (at that time the NFWT) for the Memorial Hall Building on Farringdon Street, for 52 Russell Square, and for 36 Gordon Square Legal documents pertaining to the register of 'The Woman Teacher' (this had to be done by registering Emily Phipps and Agnes Dawson as 'representative proprietors' 'The attempt to capture the National Union of Teachers by woman-suffragists', NUT publication 'Training and supply of teachers', 1951 and 'Report of the working party on the supply of women teachers', 1949, Ministry of Education publications 'Twelth annual report of the London branch/first annual report of the London Unit of the National Federation of Women Teacher's NFWT', 1918 'Memorandum on the 31st session of the International Labour Conference', 1948 'Woman suffrage in America - a reply to Mrs Humphrey Ward', Ethel Snowden, 1909 Statement of claim in a legal case 'Burgess vs Blackburn and the National Union of Teachers', 1919 'Report of the Whitley Report to the Administrative Departments of Civil Service', 1919 Memorandum of agreement between Stondon Massey School and Mrs Gertrude Lillian Drake to be Principal Teacher of the Mixed School - this gives details of her salary and contract, 1920 'Provision for Displaced Teachers Bill', 1929 Various NUWT leaflets and invitations (includes a memorial leaflet from the funeral of Theodora Bonwick) Election leaflet for Ethel Stead - standing as Labour candidate in Bradford City Council Elections, 1929 (includes photograph) Leaflet for Miss A. Letters between Muriel Pierotti and Isabella Burgess regarding a certificate she found for the Godmother of her sister. This certificate is included and dates from 1862. It is a certificate issued to Rosetta Lovegrove on her qualification as a teacher through the Pupil-Teacher Scheme. She was Schoolmistress of Preston (Suffolk) National School. This document gives yearly reports on the quality of the school by HMI Inspectors. |
