Description | Correspondence between A. Muriel Pierotti (NUWT), NUWT Branches and individual members, and Members of Parliament regarding NUWT Campaign for a mass letter writing demonstration from NUWT members to their Member of Parliament. The aim was to undertake this before the next budget was presented to protest against the pay gap between men and women teachers. This was a concerted campaign and all members were asked to post their letters of postcards on the 19th of March to arrive on the 20th, or if a telegram, to send it on the 20th March. The correspondence covers: Request from Central Council for information from branches on the action they took, and responses received, to make Members of Parliament aware of the fact that women teachers only receive four-fifths of the pay of men teachers Responses from NUWT members and branches detailing whether they sent a letter or postcard to their MP, and the response they received List of MPs from whom replies and acknowledgements were received Postcards and letters of acknowledgement from MPs - some of these are much more detailed than others and outline the position of the MP with regards to equal pay |
