Description | Correspondence concerning the publication of a new circular, number 1336 (1924), by the Board of Education. Whilst previous circulars had been concerned with the counting of War Service in the cases of some men teachers for the 'purposes of increments of salary', this circular extends the provisions to women teachers 'who have been awarded the Victory Medal, provided that the service in respect of which that medal was awarded commenced before the 14th June 1917.
Included in the file are copies of correspondence which passed between the teachers and the LEA with regard to terms of leave etc for taking up war work; copies of the Government's appeal to teachers to take up this work; copies of the LEA's intimation that the Board refuse to recognise the war service of women; and, any other case-building particulars.
