| Description | Papers relating to conferences organised by Fellowship up to 1972. The contents of the files vary and also contains papers regarding meetings of the International Council and other Fellowship events.
The Fellowship held bi-annually world conferences until 1932, when it was decided to hold the conference every 4 years due to the political situation in Europe. Smaller national or common language conferences were also held by the sections of the Fellowship. No international conferences were held during World War Two, and from 1946 the conferences were once again held bi-annually. In the 1950s-1960s the format of the conferences changed and rather than large groups listening to a talk by one person they were split into smaller discussion groups who would report back to the rest of the delegates at the end of the day. Many of the conferences also included practical sessions and visits to local educational institutions. |
