| AdminHistory | The Home and School Council of Great Britain (the National Federation of Parent-Teacher Associations) was established in 1929 as an offshoot of the ENEF. It was a national body founded to 'further the well-being of the child by encouraging closer co-operation between home and school' and encourage the formation of parent-teachers associations. Membership came from affiliated Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs); representatives from each affiliated Federation of Parent-Teacher Associations; and representatives from affiliated national bodies with kindred aims. It also published the 'Home & School' journal and several publications on the relationship between parents and schools. In 1953 the activities of the Council were absorbed by the English New Education Fellowship and the 'Home & School' journal merged with the 'New Era'. |
| CustodialHistory | The records came to the ENEF in 1953 and were later presented to Mary Stapleton, chairman of the ENEF for her students at Gipsy Hill College and came into the possession of Andrew Mann, Children's Rights Workshop, and then Tony Weaver, Editor of the New Era. The records were offered to the Institute in 1973 by Raymond King, then Secretary of the ENEF, but it is unclear whether they were sent to the Institute at this date or with the other ENEF material. |
