DescriptionPapers of the Woodcraft Folk regarding their funding and development, as follows:

Folder 1 (1937-c.1980) contains printed leaflets, memos and circulars, all regarding financial appeals, including:
- Appeal for a permanent war memorial campsite.
- Report of the International Children’s Republic camp, Brighton, 1937.
- Leaflets appealing for support following the end of World War II.
- Stamps produced for the ‘NOF’ (National Organiser Fund).

Folder 2 (1984-1989) contains correspondence with the Department of Education and Science and with the NCVYS (National Council for Voluntary Youth Service), regarding applications for extra funding for the Woodcraft Folk. Includes funding application forms.

Folder 3 (1989-1990) is a small folder of papers relating to the Charity Commission querying the Woodcraft Folk’s activities, and whether these activities are ‘political activity’ and hence not compatible with charity law. Includes correspondence with the Charity Commission, NCVO (National Council for Voluntary Organisations), and with lawyers. The discussion particularly focuses on ‘anti-racist work’, ‘peace’, Apartheid South Africa, and nuclear weapons.

Folder 4 (1975-1979) contains minutes of Development Committee Meetings, ‘Development Newsletters’, and memos, mainly regarding membership numbers, area organisation, and the setting up of new groups. Includes papers specifically related to the Lea Valley District and the Leeds District.
