Reference Number E S PEARSON/1/2
TitleE S Pearson Family Correspondence
DateEarly 20th Century
DescriptionCorrespondence between E S Pearson and his immediate family, primarily letters to and from his mother, Maria Sharpe Pearson (MSP), but also with his sisters, Helga Sharpe Pearson (later Hacker), Sigrid Loetitia Sharpe Pearson (later Bousfield) and his father, Karl Pearson (KP). Also includes a small number of letters to and from his grandfather William Pearson, his aunts Julia Sharpe, Loetitia Sharpe and Mary Catherine Sharpe, and some cousins and family friends.
Extent3 boxes
AcquisitionOriginally stored in a cardboard box, the outside of which has been annotated in several hands, including Maria Sharpe Pearson and E S Pearson, showing that the collection was added to several times. The box is now stored separately and is available on request.
ArrangementFound arranged in bundles in a roughly chronological order. Usually also divided between letters from E S Pearson and letters to him. Some letters relating to a particular event, such as his Cambridge admission examinations, were found grouped together, distinct from the rest of the correspondence for that year. From notes on the packaging the original arrangement is likely to have been made by Maria Sharpe Pearson, and has been retained in this order as far as possible.
