Description | Administrative files regarding the Trust's policies on wages for all its staff. The payment of salaries was originally up to the individual head mistresses of the Trust schools. In 1925 the Trust began to pay teaching staff using the salary scales set out by the Burnham Committee. In 1931, the teachers' salaries were subject to a 10 percent reduction under the under the National Economy (Education) Order 1931. After World War Two new scales were introduced by the Burnham committee in 1945, 1948, 1951, and 1954. In 1955 equal pay for female teachers was gradually introduced to the Burnham Scale, and the Trust had to alter their salary scales to reflect the changes. |
