AdminHistoryEast Putney High School opened on 17 September 1893 with 54 pupils in Burlington House, on Upper Richmond Road. The first headmistress was Miss S M Hucknell, who had previously been the head of Liverpool High School (which later became the Belvedere Academy). In 1895 the Senior Department moved into Albert House on the opposite side of Upper Richmond Road. In 1899 the school acquired Elphinstone House at 18 Carlton Road and gave up Burlington House. The kindergarten and junior school remained in Albert House and the rest of the school moved to the new premises. In 1906 the school purchased 'Homefield' house at 37 Putney Hill in order to build a new building. The school was unable to raise the funds to build the new school and in 1910 the junior school moved from Albert House into the refurbished Homefield. The school continued to attempt to raise funds to build the new school with little success. Instead, the school leased the building adjacent to Homefield, Cromwell House, and brought the school together on one site as Putney High School in 1915. In 1918 Lytton House, which was adjacent to grounds of Homefield, was purchased and became the new home of the junior school. The school built more building but remains on the same site.
