AdminHistoryBirkenhead High School was the first Girls' Public Day School Company School which they did not open. Opened by High School Company of Girls, 1884; transferred to the GPDSC in 1901; moved to 86 Devonshire Place, 1905; evacuated to Shrewsbury High School during World War II; new classroom block added, 1955; new laboratories installed, 1961; kitchen and hall added, 1964; lecture theatre added, 1971; arts centre added, 1974; designated academy status from 2009.
