AdminHistoryThe Council has been the main administration of the Trust since its beginning as the Girls' Public Day School Company in 1872, and has been responsible for the major decision of the organisation. Initially the Council had overall control of major decisions in the schools, though the schools were to remain largely self-administrating. The President of the Trust was also a defacto member of the Council and generally long standing members of the Council were made vice-presidents on their retirement. Over its history the Council has been served by many committee a, sub-committees, and adhoc committees, which reported to the Council on more detailed aspects of policy. In 1964 it was resolved that there could be more than 12 members of the Council or Vice-Presidents. The President and Vice-Presidents were no longer members of the Council but could still attend meetings if they wished to.
