Description | Minutes of the Council of the Girls' Day School Trust and predecessors. There are no minutes for 1948-1950 and 2000-2002. Most the volumes are indexed and some of the minute books have been signed. A detailed list of all the minutes books has been kept in the on file.
Before 1877 the minutes are hand written. From 1877 the minutes were published for members of the Council and bound annually with reports from the committees and other papers presented to the council. The published minutes books contain varying amounts of information and additional documents. Generally the early volumes include the minutes of the meetings of the Council plus reports presented to the meetings by the main committees and their subcommittees, additional special or temporary committees. During World War II the information in the books are minimal and largely only contain the Council minutes. From 1946 minutes of the Committees and Sub-committees reappear in the volumes. Various reports and documents have been bound with the minutes at various dates including financial data and accounts; annual head mistresses' reports; papers regarding scholarship regulations; reports on areas of the curriculum, including reports from the Music and Advisory Boards; proceedings of the head mistresses conferences; minutes of the Governing Bodies of Centralised Schools and successors; salary scale of headmistresses 1921-1925; examiners reports; lists of members of the Committees; statistics and tables regarding fees, pupils and teachers salaries. From the mid 1970s minutes of meetings between individual heads and the Council also appear. From 1976 the minutes are bound by academic year. From 1996 the minutes only contains the minutes of the Council, Committees, and the subsidiary companies of the Trust. |
