Title	Chairs of the Council

Description	Papers and correspondence regarding Chairs of the Council of the Trust arranged by date they were appointed. The content of the files varies and there is very little information on the first Chairs. Generally the early files contain some correspondence and biographical information collected at a later date. After 1900 the Trust requested a photograph of each Chair on their retirement which is usually included in the file. After World War Two it appears the Trust actively retained correspondence with the Chairs. Largely the correspondence is personal but also features discussions regarding the business of the Trust. There are only a few items relating to Chairs appointed after the mid 1990s. Some of the files relating to Chairs appointed before 1970 include correspondence regarding research carried out on the individuals for the centenary history of the Trust.

Arrangement	Arranged into files relating to each Chair of the Council and then by the date they were appointed. The collection does not contain files on every chair of the Council. In such cases reference number has been allocated for information purposes.
