DescriptionMinute books of the initial sub-committees and the General Purpose Committee. Initially the Company had 7 committees but most of the duties of these committees were transferred to the General Purpose Committee in 1875, except school administration which became the responsibility of the Education Committee. The General Purpose Committee was responsible for examining and controlling financial matters and to deal with all matters of routine and did not come into the scope of the Education Committee. From 1877 the work of the General Purpose Committee was divided between the Finance and Sites and Buildings committees.
