DescriptionPapers regarding international initiatives of the Institute of Education, mainly in the form of cooperation schemes, visits between the Institute and education institutions in other countries, and efforts to recruit international students to the Institute. The countries that the Institute had communications with in these papers are: Mauritius, Bangladesh, Egypt, China, Nigeria, Canada, India, USA, Brazil, Brunei, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Benin, Venezuela, Kenya, Thailand, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Australia, and 'Swaziland' (now Eswatini). These papers also include details of the Institute's relations with the Islamic Cultural Centre, the Institute of Ismaili Studies, and UNESCO.

The papers in this file consist of:

- correspondence between the Institute and educational institutions in other countries;
- internal correspondence and memos;
- the correspondence, notes, and an interim report of a Working Party on Overseas Student Recruitment;
- reports, speeches, memos and newspaper cuttings regarding increases to fees for overseas students brought in by successive UK governments;
- reports from visits to various countries;
- formal agreements of cooperation between the Institute and educational institutions in other countries;
- minutes of a meeting of the Committee To Co-Ordinate The International Role Of The Institute (27 February 1981);
- government releases regarding fees for international students.
