AdminHistoryKen Jones is an academic, latterly a Professor at Goldsmiths, and formerly at the Institute of Education and Keele University. From the seventies until 1990 he taught in London secondary schools. Throughout his career he has been active in the politics of education, as a writer and researcher, and as an activist around issues of curriculum & pedagogy and trade unionism. He was actively involved in the Socialist Teachers' Alliance (STA), he edited various publications including 'Radical Education' and 'Socialist Teacher', and was from 1982 to 1990 a member of the national executive of the NUT. His personal research focussed on the teaching of English, the English curriculum and its assessment and education policy more broadly. During this period he wrote 'Beyond Progressive Education' (1983) and 'Right Turn: the Conservative revolution in education' (1989) and edited 'English in the National Curriculum: Cox's revolution' (1992).
