AdminHistoryLoewenson was Russian by birth and after his arrival in Britain in 1933 he taught Russian and gave public lectures on Russian affairs to earn a living. He was appointed SSEES' librarian in 1940 and during his career here he wrote a number of articles and bibliographies on Russian and to a lesser extent East European history and affairs.
