TitleMS Notes and Fragments Mainly on Philosophy, Farming and Chess
Datec1950s
Date21961
DescriptionRough manuscript notes and fragments on various subjects, and drafts of letters. Contains philosophical discussion of identity, differentiation and classification; notes on the four-colour theorem; notes on chess strategy; thoughts on efficiency in farming; a large number of poems, most titled, as well as poem index; and draft correspondence with several correspondents about the finances of various named trusts and estates. Some of the notes and letters appear to have been re-drafted once or more, as content is repeated. Additionally, some of the papers on philosophy refer to letters sent to Bertrand Russell responding to his works. Papers are undated, but some were written on the reverse of dated letters addressed to Charles H Henshaw about agricultural supplies and farm accounts. The author of these papers is not clear, although the consistency of style and subject, and occasional self-references, suggest that they are the work of Henshaw.
