Date[1934]-2000
DescriptionDrafts, publications and letters principally comprises the contents of three original ring-binders of draft papers and book review articles by Smith. There are also comprehensive bibliographies of his published output including one for works written under his pseudonym, Blanche Descartes. These drafts cover a wide range of mathematical and genetics topics. There is also a large quantity of Smith's offprints, though not a complete set, and quite a large number of press cuttings and photocopies from the local, national and specialist press interspersed throughout the second series (MS ADD 426/C/2) containing published letters by Smith, primarily on the redevelopment of Harrow (in local papers); the case for nuclear disarmament (in the national press); and peace research (in 'The Friend', organ of the Society of Friends). The material relating to lectures is slight and relates to a meeting of the Royal Statistical Society, 1960, and Smith's Haldane Lecture at UCL in 1997.
