| Description | Leaf fragment, parchment, from a copy of Decretals of Gregory IX [Decretales Gregorii IX, also known as the Liber Extra]. The text on this leaf is from Book III.XVII and consists of a main body text in two columns surrounded by glossa ordinaria also in two columns. Main text and gloss in black written in a litera rotunda italiana by different hands. Text shows influence of documentary hands. With red rubrics, alternate red and blue capitals, initials and paragraphs and red and blue decorations.
There is marginalia on recto and verso, although legibility varies. There are at least two different but near contemporary hands annotating the text. Additional signs of manuscript usage include abundant interlineal underlining in black, two different styles of manicules and possibly a face visible between the columns of gloss text on the recto. |
