TitleGraecismus [Fragment]
Date14th Century
DescriptionFour double leaves, parchment, believed to be from a copy of Graecismus by Eberhard de Bthune, which was a popular grammatical poem dating from c.1212. Eberhard was a Flemish grammarian of the early 13th century; the name Graecismus comes from a section of the poem on the Greek language.
Main body text is a Gothic rotunda in black with extensive contemporary marginalia (interlineal and marginal gloss). In some places, e.g. f.4v, the original hand has corrected the text with insertions. Underlining across all four leaves shows signs of usage. Folios 4v and 5r have later marginalia, possibly 19th century. Initial letters highlighted in red, plus two large red initials. Main text is written in a single column of 14 lines per side.
