Reference Number MS FRAG/LAT/61
TitleBible [Fragment]
Date13th Century?
DescriptionLeaf from a religious text, probably a Bible, parchment. Text in two columns in dark brown in a Gothic hand with red highlights and paragraph marks. Blue/green pigment can be seen at the bottom of the second column on the verso, possibly part of a large capital letter. The leaf has been cut on all sides and one line of text is missing from the bottom of the fragment.
The text is from Matthew 27:29-46 (recto) and 46-61 (verso). There are many minor textual differences between this text and the modern Vulgate. Most noticeable is verses 35-36, which in this fragment reads "Postquam autem crucifixerunt eum diviserunt vestimenta eius sortem mittentes dicentem. Diviserunt sibi vestimenta mea et super vestem meam miserunt [sortem. Et sedentes serva]bant eum". Also noticeable is verse 56, which reads: "Inter quas erat maria magdalene et maria iacobi et salomee et ioseph mater et mater filiorum zebedei".
There is a page identifer, xxxi, at the top of the recto.
