DescriptionLeaf from a missal, parchment. Main body text in a single column in a Gothic bookhand in black with red rubrics. Spaces have been left for large initial capitals. The text contains readings for Pentecost (Whitsun) and the Monday after Pentecost (Whit Monday).
On the recto the text is from Acts of the Apostles (Acts) 2:2-4, followed by the antiphon "Cibavit eos ex adipe frumenti alleluia", and Acts 10:42-45.
On the verso the text continues with Acts 10:45-48. This is followed by two chants: "Spiritus Domini replevit orbem terrarum et hoc quod continet omnia scientiam habet vocis" and "Veni sancte spiritus". The leaf ends with a reading from John 3:16-18.
This leaf was used in the binding of a later book, there is an annotation in Latin at the top of the verso relating to this: "Codex Monasterii Sancti Mathie Apostoli Extra Muros Civitatis Trevesium Continens Tractatum Super Johannem et de Sacramentis". [Book of the Monastery of St Matthias the Apostle outside the walls of the city of Trier containing tracts on John and the Sacraments]. There are also two annotations which may be catalogue numbers or shelfmarks, "B18" at the top and "176" at the bottom of the verso.

CustodialHistoryAn annotation at the top of the verso indicates that this leaf was used in the binding of a book in the library of the Benedictine abbey of St Matthias, Trier, Germany (formerly the abbey of St Eucharius-St Matthias).
